The house
Old logs, new windows, a warm stove
Behind the red door is a house that has stood in Klejniki for about a century and a half. Its heart is a green tiled stove in the living room and a kitchen with a traditional cast-iron hotplate. The house is heated all year, so autumn and winter are a good time to come, not a season to sit out.
During the renovation we kept everything that could be saved: the cleaned original logs, the old layout of the rooms and the stoves in their original places, rebuilt by two local stove makers. Wiring, plumbing, insulation and the graphite board cladding are new.
There is no cable TV. Instead there are books, CDs, a hi-fi and a large collection of DVD films. WiFi works (usually around 20 Mb/s, variable as in most villages) and there is a place to work.
